It is up to Shadow, Rouge, and E-123 Omega to stop these Chaos Monsters from wrecking havoc on the planet. It is up to Sonic, Tails, and Blaze to destroy the Egg Titans and restore the positive energy back to the Chaos Emeralds.Ī powerful new enemy named Mammoth Mogul has used the negative energies of the chaos emeralds to awaken several Chaos Monsters around the world. Eggman uses this new Energy to create the Egg Titans which will govern his new Eggman Empire. Eggman has found a way to drain the Chaos Emeralds of their light energies, stopping Sonic from using the Emeralds to go Super Sonic. Omega will be able to upgrade his arsenal of weapons to make dealing with enemies easier.ĭr. Lastly, E-123 Omega returns with gameplay similar to Gamma's in the first Sonic Adventure game except without the short time limits. She can upgrade her combat skills and obtain new gadgets to make dealing with enemies easier. Rouge the Bat returns using a mix of the treasure hunting gameplay she had in Sonic Adventure 2 and the beat-em up gameplay of the Sonic Unleashed night levels. He flies the X Tornado and uses an on-rails shooting kind of gameplay. Tails the Fox returns with a new play style. Blaze the Cat returns the rush formula first used in Sonic Rush. Press it again to cause time to flow as normal. He can also pause time by pressing the Ring dash button. In this state, Shadow can fire multiple chaos spears at a time. Finally, if all 4 segments of the chaos gauge are filled, Shadow enters a light powered state which slowly drains the Chaos Gauge.

It also replaces his regular chaos spears with a chaos blast that destroys all enemies and obstacles in a radius around Shadow. This slowly drains Shadow's Chaos Gauge while dramatically increasing the power of his attacks.

When 3 segments are full, Shadow can enter rage mode. When one segment is full, Shadow can teleport behind a locked on enemy and perform a kick move instead of having the regular homing attack.

When the Chaos gauge is not full, Shadow can throw chaos spears at any opponent that he is locked onto by pressing the boost button while locked on to them, damaging them as much as a regular homing attack. The Chaos Gauge is divided up into 4 sections. Some additions to the formula include the ability to switch rails by using the shoulder buttons and adding a Chaos Gauge for use of chaos powers located where Sonic's boost gauge usually is. Shadow brings back the adventure formula closely resembling the gameplay found for Sonic and Shadow in Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic brings back the boost formula which first appeared in the original Sonic Unleashed (although the button inputs are closer to that of Sonic Generations). Sonic Unleashed has playable characters with their own separate styles of gameplay each scattered across 2 separate stories. Sonic Unleashed: World is the sequel to the 2008 game, Sonic Unleashed.
